ELISENDA FABREGAS (*1955)
Die 1955 in Terrassa, Barcelona, geborene Komponistin Elisenda Fábregas kam als Fulbright Stipendiatin 1978 in die USA und studierte an der Juilliard School sowie am Teachers College der Columbia University.
Sie erhielt u.a. Kompositionsaufträge vom Santa Fe Orchester,der Gesellschaft des Internationalen Klavierwettbewerbs in San Antonio,den Dale Warland Singers, der Maria Benitez Spanish Dance Company, der Texas Music Teachers Association, sowie unzähligen Solisten und Kammerensembles.
Fábregas‘ Musik wird weltweit aufgeführt, u.a. in der Merkin Concert Hall und The Joyce Theater New York, dem Kennedy Center und der Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., the United Nations Conference in Beijing, China, dem Internationalen Bodensee-Festival und der Sanssouci Festspiele Potsdam in Deutschland. Ihre Werke sind verlegt bei Alphonse Leduc&Cie in Paris, beim Hofmeister-Musik Verlag in Leipzig, der Southern Music Company und Hidden Oaks Music Co. und bei PROFIL Edition Günter Hänssler, Centaur Records, ABC Classics und Leonarda Productions eingespielt.
2001 wurde Elisenda Fábregas der Shepherd Distinguished Composer of the Year Award der MTNA verliehen. Zur Zeit vervollkommnet sie ihre Kompositionsstudien am Peabody Conservatory der John Hopkins University in Baltimore.
Für das Meininger-Trio schrieb sie 2003 "Voces de mi Tierra" - eine Huldigung an ihre Heimat und die spanische Musik - ein brillantes Werk, das seitdem weltweit aufgeführt wird und den internationalen Ruf der Komponistin begründete. Für die Cellistin des Ensembles, Francoise Groben, komponierte sie 2006 Colores Andaluces.

I have worked with Christiane and the Meininger-Trio since 2002 when I wrote Voces de mi tierra for them.
