Miloš Mlejnik, Violoncello
Born in Škofja Loka, Slovenia, he inherited his love for the violoncello from his father, who also provided the first instructions how to play the instrument. He studied with Oton Bajde in the Ljubljana Music Academy and with Siegfried Palm at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, Germany.
He attended master classes with Enrico Mainardi
and André Navarra.
From 1977 until 1990 he was the solo cellist
of the Slovenian Philharmonic.
As a soloist with orchestra he has performed concerts e.g. in the Gewandhaus, Leipzig, in Carnegie Hall, New York and in the Schauspielhaus, Berlin.
Miloš Mlejnik won many important awards:
1. prize at the "Alfred Vorster Wettbewerb" Cologne in 1972

1. prize at the competition of Young Yugoslav Artists in Zagreb 1973
1. prize at the 10th International competition for chamber music Colmar in 1977
– Award of "Prešeren foundation" in Ljubljana, Slovenia 1984
– »Prešeren prize of Gorenjska« 1987, »Grohar prize« 1989
– Award of » Prešeren foundation« 2001( as member of the »Tartini-String Quartett«).
He teaches international master classes and has been a member of the jury in numerous international competitions.
Since 1979 Milos Mlejnik is professor at Music Academy in Ljubljana, Slowenia and since 1990 he is also teaching at the Conservatory in Klagenfurt, Austria.
