Rainer Gepp, piano

Rainer Gepp studied at Cologne with Tiny Wirtz, in Paris with Pierre Sancan and Thierry de Brunhoff as a French Government scholarship holder. He got versatile helpful suggestions in master courses with Claudio Arrau, Tatjana Nikolajewa and Vitalij Margulis, furthermore by the meeting with Peter Feuchtwanger and his artistical and paedagogical concept. He has been awarded prises at the Concours International de Piano d'Epinal in 1971 and at the Concurso Internacional Maria Canals, Barcelona 1973.

Apart from the solo piano literature he promotes famous chamber music literature being a member of various ensembles, for example in the Arcadia Trio (violin, violincello, piano) and in the Arion Trio (soprano, horn, piano). Various tours led him through Europe and first of all to the US, where he gave a guest performance in the Carnegie Hall.

Broadcast and CD releases (among others all piano trios of Beethoven and works dedicated to his ensembles from contemporary composers) show his artistic universalism.
